Simply Thai is the culinary creation of Matt and Vonne, a brother and sister team who trace their love of food and hospitality to their Laotian mother, Chan. A woman ahead of her time, Chan became a local sensation in Visalia, California in the 1980s, serving delectable Southeast Asian specialties from what we would now call a food truck. All these years later, Chan is still remembered fondly as the “Food Van Lady” by loyal patrons who grew up on her cooking.



From those authentic beginnings, the concept of Simply Thai was born. Since 2009, Matt and Vonne have served delicious Thai specialties and the finest sushi at Simply Thai in Elon, North Carolina. In December 2017, Simply Thai – Jamestown opened its doors. Both restaurants focus on the highest quality Thai and Lao cuisine served in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.



The dining rooms are stylish and the bars well stocked, but the foundation of Simply Thai remains the same, firmly rooted in one family’s strong tradition of great cooking and the love of sharing it with others.
