In 2008, as a motivated but untrained baker, Cary Clifford began sharing her infectious spirit and unforgettable pastries through markets and wholesaling, and quickly garnered a community of like-minded people with a heart for Winston-Salem. By 2011, she opened her first storefront.
Camino Bakery is named for the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage in Spain inspiring self-discovery, contemplation, openness, and community. Along the trail, strangers meet from around the globe and come together through stories, laughter, and food.
In honor of her own journey on the trail, Cary sought to bring that same sentiment to her hometown of Winston-Salem: a place where strangers and friends could meet, share food, and make memories. The big hope: they all leave the same: as family.
