Bargello®, owned and operated by local restaurateurs Peter and Martha Pollay, is named after the Florentine needlepoint used in tapestries and upholstery since the 17th Century. The intricacy of this stitch embodies Peter and Martha’s style of weaving together their love for community, cuisine, and atmosphere to create the ultimate casual fine dining experience.
Our culinary team draws inspiration from the flavors you experience when traveling along the Mediterranean coastline. Seasonal and locally sourced dishes include fresh hand-rolled pasta, house-made bread, and innovative cuisine from Chef De Cuisine Tyler Slade. Bargello’s menu changes often to reflect the local produce available in Western North Carolina.
Bargello’s dining room features stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, a view into the open kitchen, and a separate open-fire pizza hearth. Bargello occupies the northeast corner of the Kimpton Hotel Arras along Broadway Avenue. District 42®, also an Asheville Independent Restaurant owned by Martha and Peter Pollay, is on the southeast corner of the block. This all-day bar and lounge share Bargello’s kitchen, serving shareable plates and unique cocktails.
With Asheville being a popular wedding destination, Bargello is a popular choice for elegant private and semi-private events. Our space is centrally located in downtown Asheville, making it convenient for locals and visitors. We invite you to learn more about our many event spaces and menu offerings by exploring our events portfolio.
A part of Mandara® Hospitality Group, Bargello’s company culture is founded upon our commitment to nurturing the well-being of our staff, customers, and community. Wholeheartedly dedicated to supporting equity, diversity, and inclusion in our workplace, we actively work against racism in all its forms.
